Connected Accounts (Google and Apple)

Learn how to link your Google or Apple account to the Expiry Traker app, prepare your profile for future social logins, and understand how your base email address works.

What Are Connected Accounts?

Starting with version 2.3.13 of the individual Expiry Traker app, you can link your Google and Apple accounts directly to your profile.

The purpose of this feature is to prepare your account in advance, allowing seamless one-tap login through these providers in upcoming updates.

Availability

This feature is available exclusively in the individual Expiry Traker app (version 2.3.13 or higher). The collaborative Expiry Traker for Teams app does not include this feature at this time.

⚠️ Important: Currently Supported Login Methods

Linking your accounts right now is strictly a preparatory step. The only supported login methods currently remain:

  1. Email and Password
  2. Email Sign-in Link (Magic Link)

Direct one-click sign-in using Google or Apple buttons will be enabled in a future release.

To link your external accounts in the app, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Expiry Traker app.
  2. Open the side menu (hamburger menu in the top corner).
  3. Tap your username or profile at the top of the side menu to open the Account screen.
  4. Under the connected accounts section, tap the buttons to connect your Google or Apple account.
  5. Complete the authentication flow required by the provider.

What to Keep in Mind: The Concept of Base Email

It is essential to make sure you are linking the exact Google or Apple account you intend to use to avoid login confusion in the future.

What is the Base Email?

Your base email is the primary email address you used when originally registering your account in the app.

Even after linking an external provider that uses a different email address, your base email remains unchanged.

Example:

  • You created your app account using email1@mail.com (base email).
  • Later, you link a Google account that uses email2@gmail.com.
  • Your core account in the system will still be identified as email1@mail.com.

Why Does the Base Email Matter?

  1. Accessing other platforms and services: On platforms or interfaces that do not yet support social sign-in with Google or Apple (such as certain web portals or legacy tools), you will continue using your base email (email1@mail.com) along with your password or magic link.

  2. Invitations to Organizations: Team or organization invitations within the ecosystem are always sent and bound to your base email. The system will never send or route invitations to secondary provider emails from Google or Apple.

Exception for Future Accounts

When direct registration via Google or Apple becomes available, accounts created natively with those providers will automatically set that provider's email as their base email.
